Context Book
For my context work I want to focus my designs on a book format. This is because my work always focuses on material, technique and process. This will give me the luxury of using different materials, while also having the possibility of incorporating papercuts into the book. I want the book to be small, delicate & fragile - like a papercut would be. I would like it to have a cover with papercut typography and to be kept together/tied with a papercut band or small box. I think this will add a luxury feel, which can be enhanced by a limited colour palette, such as black and white elements of the design, while still having colour photos so it feels luxurious as black and white photos could make it feel cheap. Materials for the pages will need to be of a thick, quality stock with the papercuts and binding method being of a very high standard. I would like the typography to also represent quality and the papercuts to be of a high standard giving an overall luxury feeling, as this is something I want my work to have. After Easter I would like to focus more on material, technique & process, with layout and typography having a considerable impact to my work too. I would like to have a focus towards advertising and promotion with my design work and with my personal work I would like to create ranges of products with a specific focus towards stationery and paper products.
