Ikea Catalogue
While looking through the Ikea catalogue I came across the phrase used by Ikea - "Know what you want" and I thought this was a good tag line to use within my designs. Below you can see the typographic element "Textiles" on a spread from the magazine, which I also thought would be a good idea to try and incorporate as I want to use the actual catalogue, or elements of it in my designs. I think the concept/phrase of "Know what you want" would be a good start to a tag line that Ikea use and I will add the words "Know where to find it" as this will refer the audience to the catalogue.

Ikea Promotional Brief
I found the following images for Ikea billboards here and thought the use of simple typography, Ikea's brand colours and fonts and a simple layout gave a striking and bold impact. I would like to use a similar concept with my designs, using only the Ikea colours, typography and a simple layout, but I would like to add a more visual element, with an illustration or something similar.

Book/Paper Manipulation - Yvette Hawkins
Yvette Hawkins.I have seen several sources using books as art, folding and creasing the pages in certain ways to create mini sculptures, and one person in particular that I have found to be very inspirational is Yvette Hawkins. I think this would be a great idea to adapt and utilise for my Ikea brief, using the actual catalogue to promote the catalogue and its products.

I found another example of this in the Leeds College of Art prospectus of which you can see below. I think they have a great textural quality and feel like small sculptures or ornaments in their own right, which I think will appeal to Ikea's target audience.
